Many function centres make for lousy photography with poor lighting, no photographic props and dismal décor.
As soon as I stepped out of the lift I realised Horizons Function Centre would be brilliant for photography since it is a huge well-lit room with panoramic views of the ocean, has a kid’s play centre with terrific lighting in one corner and a black velvet curtain in another .
Below are examples of what can be achieved in a christening venue like this.
Balcony photos
Here is an angelic shot together with two others, all taken on the balcony.
Velvet backdrop
In the south western corner of the room was a huge black velvet backdrop.
Close up, the black backdrop was perfect – all images were taken with my Nikon D700, 70-200mm lens at 800 iso, 1/400 sec and my Gary Fong lightsphere flash accessory for my SB910 Flash.
Kid’s play area
The kid’s play area was well-lit and not cramped.
Table shots
Plenty of natural light allowed me to take candid photos.
Quiet area for children
The dance floor was also well lit and there was plenty of room
In summary, I reccommend Horizons Function Centre for any large family function if you need a venue in the Eastern Suburbs and want great photos.
